Caption: The Riherds built an upper story onto their building at 124 East Oleander in La Feria in order to live near their plant and keep an almost hourly check on thier stock of looper larvae. Isolation ward is beyond carport. Riherd continues his work as entomologist for a flying service while Mrs. Riherd tends "the livestock." Caption: Mrs. Riherd placs some looper eggs on mdia. The eggs hatch in the cups and eat their way to solving some serious problems for vegetable growers. Paul and Hazel Riherd met while she, as Hazel Bennett, served as secretary at the Weslaco Experiment Station. She keeps his files, records, types his technical papers. Riherds recieved his B.S. Degree at Texas A&M; his masters at the University of Flordia.

Caption: Frances Phillipp of La Feria says he wouldn't grow another crop of cabbage if he couldn't have the virus spray to combat the loopers with. he plans to spray Septembers plantings at ten days, three weeks and at heading time. Even the rains don't bother the virus spray, he says, may even help spread it across the fields.
