Steamboating on the Lower Rio Grande River/ Stephen Andrew Townsend. Kingsville: History Dept, Texas A&MUniversity-Kingsville, 1989. A study of the steamboat activities that existed on the lower Rio Grande from 1829 to 1907. The thesis examines teamboat operations, the influencial and prominent men involved in these operations, the reasons why steamboating failed and finally the role of steamboating in the history of south Texas.
