OV-1 Birddog. Single engine, single seater, spotter plane. They would fly about 1500 feet. No armor, no guns, only a radio. Very brave men flew these planes.

The helicopter is part of "Air America." There are no markings on this helicopter except the American Flag. It was a CIA helicopter. They were a different color than Army and USMC helicopters. The yellow truck in the back is a "Huffer" and it would start the airplanes.

After the fall of Saigon, off the shore of Thailand. The boat in the picture is an example of the type of boat that would follow wanting asylum. 80 men, women and children were on this boat. It sunk after they got the people on the boat. They climbed up the ship on a boat net.

The Navy man standing here was a metal smith. Kenny didn't remember his name standing next to an OV-1 Birddog. The OV-1 brought an entire family of six. It almost crashed getting it to land on the U.S.S. Midway. The man flying it was a South Vietnamese and he flew the plane hoping he could find a place to land.

Boats like this one followed the U.S.S. Midway looking for asylum. There were about 80 men, women and children on this boat. The boat sunk after they got on the U.S.S. Midway. Look how low it sits in the water.
