David More was born in Glasgow, Scotland on August 25, 1863. He immigrated to Canada in 1883 to seek work. He helped build the first railroad in the Pacific Northwest, the Canadian National railroad. For two years he traveled around Canada working at different jobs. After marrying a Canadian girl, whose family had also emigrated from Scotland, David More moved to Ohio and then Michigan where he began working for the railroad and then later for a steel plant. In 1901, with his growing family, he moved to Bloomington, Indiana and continued working for a railroad. By 1909 he was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad Line and other lines until 1923 when he moved his family to Corpus Christi, Texas and subsequently to Kingsville and Driscoll, Texas. David More, a plow contractor, broke the first land in the Petronilla community. His wife, Margaret Nicol More Scott, born on April 29, 1872 was at one time postmistress at Driscoll. They farmed land in and around Driscoll in the early part of the 20th century. The More family, in Texas, included three children, including Roderick McDonald Scott More. Rod More was educated in Kingsville public schools and briefly attended Texas College of Arts and Industries in Kingsville. Subsequently brothers were aviation mechanics in World War I. Roderick became a pilot and in 1936 opened the More Flying School (1936-1938). After serving in World War II, Rod More returned to Corpus Christi and with his wife, also a pilot, they opened the More Aircraft and Supply Firm. Margaret Nicole More died December 9, 1939. David More died February 12, 1947.
