     The South Texas Historical Association was founded "to encourage the organization of and to aid in the development of local historical societies and to discover, collect, preserve, and publish historical records and data relating to South Texas, and with special emphasis on the Tamaulipan background the colony of Nuevo Santander." 

     The Association publishes the Journal of South Texas biannually.  The Journal seeks contributions about the social, political, military, economic and cultural history of South Texas.  Also sought are manuscripts about the biographies, the geography or literature of South Texas.  Subscription to the Journal of South Texas comes with membership.  Individual membership is $15.00.  Joint membership, for a couple, is $20.00
