Copyright and The South Texas Archives

One of the goals of The South Texas Archives is to make its collections readily available to the public via the Internet.  In so doing, the STA has made a good faith effort to determine the copyright status of all collections posted electronically and believes that all posted material is either in the public domain or is available by permission.  Nevertheless, the STA cannot guarantee copyright status, especially with respect to all projected uses of such material.

In addition to copyright law, the STA respects the wishes of those donating or gifting collections.  Thus, not all collections can or will be readily available for public consumption via the Internet.

The main goal of the STA is to provide information for archival and educational purposes to South Texas and to the world within the parameters of the law and the restrictions of individual donors and other stakeholders.
