The South Texas Historical Association was founded in 1954 "to
encourage and to aid in the development of local historical
societies and to discover, collect, preserve, and publish historical
records and data relating to South Texas, and with special emphasis
on the Tamaulipan background and the colony of Nuevo Santander."
The Journal of South Texas
is a biannual publication and is sent to all members of the South
Texas Historical Association. Individual Association membership is
$15 annually. Joint membership of husband and wife is $20
annually. Dues should be sent to the Treasurer,

The Journal of South Texas welcomes
article submissions from both professional and amateur historians
that address some aspect of the history and heritage of South Texas
and/or Northern Mexico. Manuscripts and correspondence concerning
editorial matters should be addressed to

Guidesheet for submitting Book
Reviews
The Journal of South Texas,
the publication of the South Texas Historical Association, follows
the style of citation of The Southwestern Historical Quarterly. All book reviews must be preceded
by complete bibliographic information about the book, in the
following order:
Complete title of the book, italicized.
"By" followed by the complete name of author(s).
Publication information in brackets (including place of publication:
publisher, date of publication. Number of pages, ISBN number, and
price.)
For example: Torpedoes in the
Gulf. By Melanie Wiggins. (College Station: Texas A&M
University Press, 1955. pp. 280. Preface, appendix, notes,
bibliography, index. ISBN 0-89096-627-3. $29.50.)
1. Single space the bibliographic
information.
2. Triple space between the
bibliographic information and the text of the book review.
3. Double space the text of the
review.
4. The text of the review should be
between 500 and 1000 words in length, depending upon the importance of the book.
5. At the end of the review, the
reviewer's affiliation should be flush with the left margin and the
reviewer's name flush with the right margin.
6. The review should be submitted
as a hardcopy. An accompanying copy on a computer disk (3.5-inch)
in "text only" format would be especially appreciated.
