UNIVERSITY HISTORY

Your personal papers, family papers, or organizational records
may provide insight into the history of your community as it
relates to the broader history and heritage of South Texas and
Northern Mexico. When you donate historical documents to the
South Texas Archives and Special Collections at the James C.
Jernigan Library, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, that
history will be preserved as part of our history and made
available to scholars and researchers for all time to come.
The staff at the South Texas Archives and Special Collections
make every effort to collect, preserve and make available for
scholarly research, materials relevant and significant in the
historical development of South Texas and northeastern
Mexico. The Archives collects documents that provide
information about the history, folklore, politics, culture,
and natural history of South Texas. STA collects:
1. Personal and
family papers consisting of correspondence, diaries, legal and
financial documents, photographs, and other types of visual
images;
2.
Organizational records consisting of correspondence, reports,
minutes, financial and legal papers, photographs, printed
materials and other documentation produced by a group or
corporate activity;
3. Visual
images which may take the form of photographs, negatives,
postcards, prints, drawings, sketches, videotapes, etc.;
4. Sound
recordings including oral histories, records, tapes and
